This is the most convenient playground for those staying near downtown Douglas. It is a small, 1.2 acre park located on Main Street in Douglas.

The park has a field, bleachers and restrooms. This area is used for baseball, football and softball. There is also a basketball court.

The playground equipment is in a fenced sandy area. There are several picnic tables in the park.

There is a sculpture of kids walking on a log, which is nice for pictures.

The main feature of the playground is a very tall metal slide, which is rare these days. Other equipment here include curved monkey bars, swings, and toddler swings.

A short drive from downtown Saugatuck, but walkable from downtown Douglas, this playground is definitely worth the effort. This is a large playground with lots of space, I have never seen it crowded.

Enter to the right of the school, look for the sign for Demerest Field and enter through there. This is the largest playground in the area, and is usually much less crowded.

There is a large field, that can be used for softball, football, Frisbee and soccer right next to the playground. Also a basketball court is nearby.

The key features of the playground include several Zip lines / track rides and swings. There are different types of slides - curved, straight (all plastic), several bridges, rope ladder, large dinosaur, hanging rings, curved monkey bars, and hanging wheels.

I am not sure what the restroom situation is, if the school is not in session, so be mindful of this.

West Side County Park - 2152 Lakeshore Drive in Fennville, MI

This playground is one exit down from Saugatuck/Douglas on I-196 towards South Haven.

West Side County Park is a rather large park, with free access to the beach, a playground area, large open field, BBQ pavilions, and public restrooms. If you have a large group, and want to do a cookout, this is the place for you.

As far as playgrounds go, it is one of the most comprehensive. Lots of different slides, swings, climbing obstacles. What makes it a bit unique are the pull-up bars and parallel bars, which can’t be found on any other playground. Also, this playground is one of the least crowded in the area.

Definitely worth the 10-15 min drive, in our view.
